Currently, Yang et al. presented an efficient double–binary tree GOP (group of pictures) for alleviating the error propagation problem in terms of the average number of frames influenced by the damaged inter–frame (average number of FI for short). In this research, besides considering the average number of FI, we also takes the quality factor into account in the error resilient GOP structure. This thesis presents an improved error resilient tree
structure. Based on some testing video sequences, simulation results demonstrate that our proposed improved error resilient tree structure outperforms Yang et al.’s structure in terms of both the average number of FI and the average quality.
