在氣候變遷的影響下，全球暖化帶動起城市中的熱島效應與自然資源耗竭的危機，「永續發展」逐漸成為我們刻不容緩的議題，氣候變遷帶動起環境間的變化，還涉及人與環境的衝突以及社會問題，並且在上一個世紀初就已是各國論述中的核心議題之一。在科學科技不斷進步的今天，我們有機會不再只是對環境進行掠奪與破壞，第一次有機會運用自然科學與社會科學的各種知能，來了解問題並修補我們的地球。
我們身處的都市環境由於熱島效應的影響污染物在圓頂罩內循環不散，灰煙氣團罩使日射量降低、居住環境衛生條件下降及空氣污染更加嚴重。形成塵罩現象的同時為了應付炎熱的都市氣候，大量使用的空調帶來加速排熱，更是全球暖化效應的惡性循環。尋求降低環境負荷並與環境相容，永續建築有利於居住者與環境的健康。綠建築為基礎進而擴展至社區、都市甚至國家的境界，利用建築存在的必需性並也兼顧環境的均衡考慮下，同時讓建築設計與環境工程能永續發展。

Under the influence of climate change, global warming has brought about
the heat island effect in cities and the crisis of depletion of natural resources.
"Sustainable development" has gradually become an urgent issue for us. Climate
change has brought about changes in the environment, and also involves people
and the environment. The conflicts and social problems were one of the core
issues in the discussion of countries at the beginning of the last century. Today,
with the continuous advancement of science and technology, we have the opportunity not only to plunder and destroy the environment, but also to have the opportunity to use the various knowledge of the natural sciences and social sciences to understand the problems and repair our planet.
The urban environment in which we are located is not circulated in the dome due to the effect of the heat island effect. The ash fumes are used to reduce the amount of solar radiation, the sanitary conditions of the living environment, and the air pollution. In order to cope with the hot urban climate, the large-scale air conditioners bring accelerated heat removal, which is a vicious circle of global warming effect.
Seeking to reduce environmental impact and be compatible with the environment, sustainable construction is conducive to the health of the occupants and the environment. Based on the green building, it will be extended to the realm of the community, the city and even the country. Taking into account the necessity of the existence of the building and taking into account the balance of the environment, the building design and environmental engineering can be sustainable.
