2008年四大DRAM廠南亞科、華亞科、力晶、茂德 虧損連連，此龐大虧損及聯貸造成各界高度注目，台灣DRAM和其它如、面板、LED及太陽能列為台灣「四大慘業」。這四個可能拖累台灣經濟的「慘業」現象的發生主要來產能過剩並同時間遭受全球金融風暴使得廠商營運更加艱困。12年過去了，台灣的上游記憶體產業早因虧損轉型或被併購，但在中游的模組廠卻因為後PC時代的來臨找出更具有成長性的利益市場和產品組合。
隨著科技快速變遷，企業經營必然要因應時代趨勢動態改變策略，聚焦核心競爭力、調整產品和市場，才能不被時代所淘汰。本文主要探討台灣工控記憶體模組廠發展，以及產品和目標市場上的區分，並利用波特五力分析、SWOT 及TOWS模式分析、並結合作者自己過去的記憶體採購經驗、以及與相關行業的負責PM做深度訪談分析進而提供建議策略，希望能利用這些研究方式提昇自身面對相關問題時的分析能力，並冀望本文能對相關產業的讀者理解進入工控記憶體市場可能面臨的問題能有所幫助。

In 2008, the four major DRAM manufacturers in Taiwan, Nanya, Inotera, Powerchip, and Promos, suffered great loss. This financial loss and related syndicated loans drew high attention and raised widespread public concerns. These four may be the "tragic cause" that drag down the Taiwanese economy. The incident was mainly caused by overcapacity during the global financial downturn, which makes the operation unprofitable. After 12 years, upstream sectors within the memory industry in Taiwan have either transformed or merged due to losses; while midstream sector memory module house would focus on growing niche markets, and create value-added services to mitigate the impact of DRAM/NAND price downtrend in post-PC era.

With the rapid change of technology, enterprises inevitably undergo strategic transformation in response to the market trend. Focusing on core competitiveness, while adjusting product offering and target markets, have allowed some not be eliminated by the times. This article inquires into the development of Taiwanese industrial memory module houses, and the differentiation between products and target segments. The use of Porter's five force analysis, SWOT, TOWS model analysis, combine with the author's own experience in memory procurement as the basis.

In addition, in-depth interviews with industry leading product managers offers market insight and strategies, which provides a holistic perspective of the industry development. Through this exercise, author targets to improve personal analytical skills when faced with related issues, where this article may as also help readers in related industries understand the fundamental issues that one may be encounter when entering the industrial memory market.
