檢視台灣商業辦公建築類型的形式表徵，所呈現的多為西方現代主義之建築形式，產生出單一的、無地方文化特色的都市形貌及風格。由此可以看出西方文化建築美學的強勢影響，以及東方文化在建築型態上的薄弱與式微。雖然如此，還是有少數建築師強調以東方文化為出發點，希望能建構出具有東方意象之建築形式。
本文以李祖原建築師所設計具有東方意象之六件商業辦公建築作品－富邦民生大樓、宏國辦公大樓、同隆經緯天下大樓、高雄長谷世貿聯合國、高雄85層國際廣場及台北101為分析內容，就其概念、手法及表現，經由材料、結構、構造等觀點，探討其創造商業辦公建築之東方意象建築語彙。
綜合本研究分析得知，李祖原建築師所設計商業辦公大摟之東方意象建築語彙，運用了多元的東方建築概念及圖像轉化之建築手法，應用於建築的表現上，產生出不同於西方之建築意象。其建築語彙多為裝飾性之功能，但較少將東方概念運用於建築空間之東方意象營造上。

Tracing the formal presentations of commercial office buildings in Taiwan, it is observably that most of them followed the development of Western modern architecture. These buildings create a poor skyline lacking of local culture and lifestyles. From the viewpoint of this, we find the strong influence of Western architectural style and the inadequacy of Oriental cultural identity on our architecture. Even with the popularity of Western architectural style, there are still a few Taiwan architects emphasis their works in attempt to create building forms that represent Oriental culture.

This thesis focused on six buildings have Oriental image that design by C. Y. Lee – the Fubon Min-Sheng building, the Hong-Guo office building ,the Tong-Long office building ,the Chang-Gu office building ,the T＆C Tower ,and the Taipei 101.The analysis of these commercial office buildings will be based on their concepts, structural systems, materials and construction techniques.

Based on this research, we may conclude that the design of C. Y. Lee in his commercial office building used numerous Oriental concepts and iconic transformations to create architectural vocabulary that are unique from other buildings based on the Western architecture. These architectural languages are almost decorative. However, the embodiment of oriental concepts in Lee’s design device is deficient in spatial arrangements.
