  • 車牌辨識應用可大致分為管制點進出、交通法規監控與道路巡視三大類別,差異在
    於車牌大小、角度、攝影機架設方式與光源變化等。目前很多車牌辨識的研究論文
    發表,並沒有實際探討車牌辨識之不同應用範圍,這將提高設計實際應用系統的難
    度,因為不同應用範圍所考慮的變數範圍不同,系統必須隨著不同應用具備不同變
    數考量,本文將討論不同的應用範圍,根據不同應用時探討需要的車牌辨識核心模
    組、流程。從簡單的管制點進出至複雜度較高的道路巡視,其模組內容與參數設定
    會隨著複雜度有所變化,由於車牌影像在不同應用所具備之變數條件不同,如光源
    變化、車牌大小、角度等,本論文以量化車牌大小與角度為依據,在各應用導向場
    景設定不同之參數,並以此量化數據作為效能評估的方式。


    The application of License Plate Recognition (LPR)can be generally divided into three applications - access control, traffic law enforcement and road patrol. The major differences of the three applications are on the parameters of different scopes, and the parameters include the size, orientation, and rotation of the plates, and the impacts from different illumination conditions . Plenty of works done on LPR, but most are short of the following information: (1) application scope and (2) performance benchmark database. Because different applications consider different parameters or parameters with different scopes, this thesis proposes different but inter-related designs of LPR systems according to the aforementioned three applications. The parameters and benchmark database in each application are firstly identified, and the associated LPR is designed and then validated using the benchmark database. In addition, this thesis proposes a method for character recognition using LBP (Local Binary Pattern) and LDA (Linear Discriminant Analysis), yielding a satisfactory performance in case that only few samples are available for training.
