For construction firms, project progress and cost efficiency are the primary factors influencing the success of a project. To address this, the Project Management Institute (PMI) integrates schedule and cost management factors to assess cost efficiency reflecting progress in accordance with project progress. In their Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), they introduce the Earned Value Management (EVM) method to evaluate the alignment of projected and actual progress and cost efficiency in a project.
While EVM converts project data into performance indicators to effectively monitor project duration and cost performance, the complexity of project data increases with project scale, making it challenging to implement Earned Value Management through manual efforts. To address this issue, this study aims to leverage the Construction Information Cloud (CIC) to assist construction firms in calculating various EVM indicators and generating charts.
CIC is a cloud-based construction project information management system designed to record project data in a cloud database, categorized by different modules for managing various project stages. This study will integrate data from modules such as contract budget, execution budget, schedule management, procurement and contracting, daily report management, and subcontractor billing into the management and reporting module. Once the data from these modules is organized, it can be automatically transformed into the three fundamental EVM indicators (PV, EV, and AC), generating charts to monitor project performance.
