The smart living spaces will be constructed on ubiquitous computing environment which is full of micro-computing units and bring us to express an entire new living style. We can envision that all the objects around us such as doors, windows, furnishings, equipments are turned into smart objects that have the ability to receive, send and process data automatically. Depending on an object-oriented approach, smart objects work individually and consciously by user’s pre-setting, and cooperate with each other to satisfy users’ needs unlike the way of central control to handle all devices.
In this research, we developed an object system which can be used easily and flexibly for space designers, object developers and normal users. Space designers, just like computer programmers, take the spaces as an information system and follow object-oriented develop procedure to plan a dwelling living space for clients; besides, there is a UML tool to help designer to manipulate objects work accordingly. Through an open standard object develop platform, object developers can build their own unique objects efficiently so that the smart object marketing will be more plentiful and multiform for varying users' needs. For normal users having the abilities to modify the objects, the system thus can respond to future alteration, continuously providing proper intelligent services, which these possibilities being the contribution for the ultimate value of this object-oriented open system for smart spaces.
