This research seeks to assess the Indonesia’s manufacturing sector performance, by utilizing non-parametric total factor productivity growth measurement. This research also intends to compare the sector’s performance under different regulations or policies and analyze the industry sector performance that related to the specific characteristics of the particular industry (labor intensive and capital intensive). Twelve sub-sectors of Indonesia’s manufacturing sector efficiency and productivity changes were analyzed by utilizing non-parametric data envelopment analysis and the growth accounting method. The results of this study will not only have important theoretical implications for development economics, but may also shed light on and change the specific policy practices for supporting the manufacturing sector in Indonesia and other countries.
