高爾夫球運動源自11世紀誕生，幾個世紀以來，高爾夫球運動是一直不斷的演進與發展。而國內近年來在我國LPGA選手曾雅妮的優秀表現下，已成為國內熱門的球類運動之一。由於曾雅妮在LPGA連續109週蟬聯世界球后寶座的優異表現，以及國內企業不斷的推動下，LPGA聯盟首度於2011年將台灣加入LPGA賽事的其中一站。2011年十月，LPGA首度在台比賽，帶來台灣難得一見的國際級賽事。回顧當時盛況，雖然LPGA聯盟有針對賽事及場地動線的規劃，繼而衍生出台灣高爾夫球產業舉辦國際級賽事的不足，也帶給台灣高爾夫產業一個新的契機與發展的機會。
高爾夫球已成為全民運動，來自各行各業以及男女老少都開始接觸這項運動。但高爾夫球並不像其他體育運動來的容易入門。從如何找教練，到哪裡練習，如何選擇適合自己的球桿、衣服要如何穿著，下場擊球時要注意的球場規則與禮儀等，都是需要有人指導。台灣的高球環境，大部分球友在接觸時都靠自己摸索或跟身邊的朋友學習較多，比較少部分的球友會直接找上專業的教練來進入高球的殿堂。這樣的現況容易造成運動傷害外，並拉長高爾夫球的學習曲線。
本研究為探討新型態高爾夫球教學，以建議球友與專業教練的需求或從事高爾夫球產業的夥伴了解球友的實際需求為何。好讓球友開始接觸高爾夫球時，了解專業教練指導的重要性，灌輸正確的高爾夫球觀念。另一方面讓高爾夫球專業教練了解台灣目前的教學方式現況為何，並順利推動高爾夫球教學。而練習場與球場要如何針對需求來改善現況，讓高爾夫球運動除了成為全民運動外，能挖掘更多像曾雅妮一樣的選手，為本研究之目的。

Golf has developed continuously since it originated in 11th-century. In Taiwan, it became one of the most popular sports in recent years with Yani Tseng's outstanding performance at the LPGA Golf Professional. Due to Yani Tseng’s 109-week reign at the top of women’s golf and effort by Taiwanese enterprises, the first LPGA tournament was held in Taiwan in October 2011. Review of the event shows a lack of organizational experience for large-scale international sporting events in Taiwan. This despite the fact that the LPGA Alliance underwent serious planning to pass the LPGA's official qualifications. However, this also means that there are some business opportunities due to the lack of experience in organizing such events.
With more people from all sorts of professions learning how to play golf, it has really taken off to become the most popular amateur sport in Taiwan. Golf is not like other sports which are relatively easy to learn for a beginner, it does need a lot investment in terms of both time and knowledge. How to acquire a professional coach, where to learn, how to choose a suitable golf club, what to wear when playing, and the most important, regulations and protocol for the game are the issues too. Looking at the golf environment in Taiwan, you find that most of golf players are self-taught or learn from friends. This not only extends the learning curve, but also means that players get injured easily.
This study explores a new type of golf coaching to provide practical suggestions for golf players and coaches, and to help the golf industry to understand the actual need of players. It is important for beginners to have a professional golf coach to provide appropriate knowledge about the game. This research also shows the current status of golf coaching in Taiwan. It investigates how driving ranges and golf courses can improve to meet customers’ needs. This can drive golf as a nationwide sports activity, and can help in nurturing talent like Yani Tseng. That is the main purpose of this research.
