在永續發展思潮下，人們試圖要找回過去人類與自然共處共存的關係；在高度開發的都市裡，植物與住居環境的議題成為建築及城市規劃必要考慮的項目之一。本研究試圖整理 1960 年以來，國際間在綠化建築議題有著墨之建築師作品，透過綠色建築議題的回顧、案例彙整、圖面分析，建立建築綠化設計手法的發展系譜，並針對各種設計手法探討綠化在空間屬性中「視覺性」、「可及性」及「活動性」之表現，了解當中如何回應建築、植物與人的關係。

研究發現，建築綠化設計對於開放空間活動之營造具有一定的影響力，在特定的建築類型中也存在著相應的綠化構築方式。回應當代對於永續環境的追求，將植物引入建築的綠化操作即是最直接把自然環境與建築結合的方法。透過綠化的構築使得建築不再只是無機的人造物，而是將自然帶入都市裡的媒介，人們可以從植物中受益，植物也能藉此進入都市環境裡；植物在建築中自然生長的同時，不只抹去了建築與環境兩者之間有形的邊界，也淡化了人與人、公與私之間無形的隔閡。

Under the trend of sustainable development, people try to find the symbiotic relationship with nature in the past. It’s required to consider the issue of plants in living areas during building and urban planning world-widely while most of us are living in highly developed urban environment. Through literature reviews and a comparative case study of the works by the architects who involved in green building issue internationally since 1960s, the study attempts to establish the development pedigree of architectural greening design strategy and to delve into the visuality, accessibility and activity among space property to analysis how they respond to the relationship between buildings, plants and people.

In response to the pursuit of a sustainable environment, leading plants into buildings is the most direct way to combine architecture with nature environment. It has been found that there are corresponding greening design strategies for specific building types, the placement of plants has a certain influence on the creation of open space activities in building as well. Through greening, it makes buildings no longer an inorganic artifact, but a medium that brings nature into urban environment. The plants growing naturally not only erase the tangible boundary between buildings and environment, but also dilute the invisible wall between people and the one between the public and the private.
