The purpose of this study is to better understand Indonesian migrant worker's telecommunication needs. This study is an empirical study, a study that use direct and indirect observation or experience. The primary data is collected through paper-and-pencil questionnaire at OK Card Winter Festival, a special event held by OK Card Indonesia on 13th October 2013. The data is analyzed with SPSS software. Based on the cross tabulation analysis result, we develop a marketing planning for Taiwan Mobile in order to win the market share in such a competitive field.
The main conclusions in this study are (1) The higher their monthly international call expenditure, Indonesian migrant workers are more likely to use more than one working cellphone (2) Most of the Indonesian foreign worker cellphone users consider cellphone functionality as the deciding factor when buying a new cellphone (3) 88% of Indonesian foreign workers who use two working cellphones use internet, in contrast with only 58.5% internet users for those who use only one working cellphone (4) 84% Indonesian migrant workers in Taipei use internet. However, outside Taipei, the percentage of Indonesian migrant workers who do not use internet is significantly higher.
