  • Remote counseling has gained significance in the realm of mental health services due to its convenience and accessibility, especially in situations when patients are not available to have face-to-face treatment. Although the importance of remote counseling has been recognized, its deployment and the process of obtaining treatment opportunities for patients are still ambiguous. Therefore, this thesis explores the mechanisms for patient empowerment in the deploying process, thus providing remote counseling services. This thesis seeks to explore the mechanisms for deploying remote counseling services.
To further the understanding of the empowerment process, the qualitative case study is employed to gain an in-depth understanding of the drivers, perceptions, and obstacles that shape patients’ use of remote counseling. Through an examination of the experiences of a diverse range of individuals who have utilized remote counseling services, this research reveals key themes that illuminate vital aspects of remote counseling utilization. These findings provide valuable insights for mental health professionals and service providers, guiding the development of strategies and support systems to enhance the quality and availability of mental health care.
This research contributes significantly to the ever-evolving landscape of remote counseling, particularly in clinics, by uncovering the intricacies of patient empowerment. The gained insights into psychological empowerment, contextual empowerment, and resource empowerment hold profound implications for clinics, informing decision-making processes and enhancing service delivery within the realm of mental health care. By integrating these empowerment facets, clinics can adapt and optimize their remote counseling strategies, ultimately fostering a more effective and impactful patient-centric approach to mental health treatment.
