  • 專利資訊是一種經過淘篩與整理的結構性資料,若能有效運用,將有助於商業決策並增進研發投資的效益。本研究以書目計量學的共被引關係來分析專利資料,發掘個案孟山都的共被引專利權人並探究與共被引專利權人在技術上的競爭與合作關係。本研究進行了(1)觀察年度內共被引強度前20名專利權人產業屬性的變化趨勢、(2)比對過去共被引專利權人發生高共被引強度的時間點是否與市場資訊相對應、(3)觀察近期與孟山都有併購及策略合作關係的專利權人其共被引的強度變化趨勢。本研究獲得結論如下:年度共被引強度前20名專利權人產業屬性的變化趨勢可反應孟山都的技術發展趨勢。孟山都與共被引專利權人間高共被引強度發生的時間點不一定有對應的市場資訊出現。最後,本研究觀察到在2013年底與孟山都有策略聯盟關係的諾維信,其專利權人共被引強度自2008年開始呈上升趨勢,亦觀察到近幾年與孟山都有高共被引關係但尚未有相關市場資訊出現的Metabolix,其共被引強度自2010年開始也呈上升趨勢。未來可持續追蹤Metabolix或其他有此類共被引強度特性的專利權人與孟山都關聯的技術發展,這些公司可能是孟山都未來競爭或合作的對象。


    Patent bibliographic information is structured data after screening and integration, and could be valuable raw data for further analysis if appropriate method is applied. This study analyzes patent bibliographic information in light of the co-citation relationship between Monsanto and its co-cited assignees, aiming to observe their competition and cooperation. First, the industrial change of the annual top 20 co-cited assignees is probed. Second, whether relevant market information was released at the time when high co-citation strength of selected assignees occurred is explored. Last, how the co-citation strength has changed as the co-cited assignees recently underwent merger and strategic alliance is described. This study finds that (1) the industrial shift over time of the annual top 20 co-cited assignees reflects Monsanto’s technology development; (2) relevant market information is not always released at the time when high co-citation of selected assignees occurred; (3) the co-citation strength of Novozymes, a strategic ally of Monsanto in 2013, has been growing since 2008 ; (4) Metabolix, the highly co-cited assignee in 2010~2013 without related market information with Monsanto in recent ten years, also has a growing co-citation strength pattern nearly. In conclusion, co-cited assignees with similar growing co-citation strength pattern like Novoenzymes and Metabolix are very likely to compete or cooperate with Monsanto in the future and their technology development is worth tracking.
