Deteriorating items, trade credit, advance payment and partial back-ordering are common in today’s business. However, no previous study on supply chain network design has considered these business aspects together. This study considers supply chain network design problems for deteriorating items under two different payment ways: trade credit and advanced payment. For two different payment ways, we consider both cases of no shortage and partial backordering. For each case, an algorithm based on the nonlinear optimization is presented to determine the optimal joint replenishment cycle time, the influence area for each distribution center DC, or the optimal shortage level such that the total network cost is minimized. Numerical studies are used to illustrate the solution procedures and discuss the effects of different value of parameters on decisions and cost. The result could be a reference for managers to make decisions.
